Michael Schottey
WHY IT RATES: Michael Schottey’s travel advisor-centric background, including his roles as vice president of membership, marketing, and communications at ASTA and as a TravelPulse editor, will be a formidable asset to MAST, where he is overseeing the consortium’s day-to-day operations while strengthening ties with members and the broader travel sector.
MAST Travel Network is proud to announce the hiring of travel industry veteran Michael Schottey, who has joined MAST as Vice President of Member Engagement & Education.
Schottey joins MAST after a stint at the American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) where his most recent role was Vice President of Membership, Marketing and Communications. Previously, Schottey was an award-winning journalist covering sports, lifestyle and travel with stops at TravelPulse, Forbes, CNN and Bleacher Report.
“We’re excited to have Michael join us at this pivotal moment in MAST’s history,” said Andrew Davis, President and COO of MAST Travel Network. “MAST has strong plans for growth, and we believe better operational excellence and increased engagement with our members will help us immensely as we continue to serve our member agencies.”
Schottey’s initial areas of focus will be in broad organizational leadership, education, brand strategy and marketing, event oversight, operations and administration and a member mentorship program. He will report directly to Davis and have a number of direct reports.
“I’ve had an immense respect for MAST and its members as long as I’ve been in the travel industry,” said Schottey. “I’ve also gotten to know Andrew since he took over at MAST, and it’s clear we are going to make a great team. I’m excited to be a part of MAST’s growth over the coming years and believe we can do amazing things.”
