Visit Omaha announces the promotion of Mattie Scheeter, CMP, to Vice President of Sales and Convention Services. She has been an integral part of bringing large conventions and events to Omaha, worth more than $161 million for the local community.
“Mattie’s experience and passion for Omaha make her an invaluable asset to our team,” said Deborah Ward, executive director of Visit Omaha. “Her leadership will continue to elevate Omaha as a premier destination for meetings and conventions.”
Scheeter has worked in the tourism industry for over 16 years, including more than eight years with Visit Omaha. She joined Visit Omaha in 2017 as national sales manager for the Midwest market, was promoted to director of sales in 2021 and then to regional director of sales.
Scheeter is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP). She was recognized in the Destination Marketing Association International (now Destinations International) 30 Under 30 Class of 2015 and the CONNECT Marketplace 40 Under 40 Class of 2019. She has served on the Meeting Professionals International (MPI) Heartland Chapter Board and the Omaha World-Herald’s Inspire Advisory Board.
Before joining Visit Omaha, Scheeter worked for the Sioux Falls Convention and Visitors Bureau (now Experience Sioux Falls) for seven years. She led a team there as director of sales. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management with a minor in Business Administration from Wayne State College.
