AmaWaterways is giving travelers a first look at its newest Mekong River ship, AmaMaya, ahead of its January 2027 debut.
The 120-guest ship will sail through Vietnam and Cambodia on AmaWaterways’ 7-night “Charms of the Mekong” and “Riches of the Mekong” itineraries. The ship is designed with a contemporary take on Indochine heritage, incorporating regional influences into its interiors while offering spaces for dining, wellness and relaxation.
“AmaMaya is contemporary and refined, but you can feel the influence of Indochine throughout,” says Catherine Powell, chief executive officer of AmaWaterways. “It is a beautiful setting that complements the journey and creates a sense of discovery from the moment guests step on board.”

AmaMaya will have 60 staterooms, the same number and type of accommodations as its sister ship, AmaDara. Its design takes inspiration from the movement of the Mekong and the experience of traveling through the region, with Indochine-inspired accents throughout the ship.
The ship will have two dining venues: the Mekong Restaurant, which will serve international and local cuisine, and The Chef’s Table, an intimate specialty restaurant offering a multi-course tasting menu. Menus will feature Southeast Asian flavors and fresh ingredients, with options available for guests with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dietary needs.
Other amenities will include a fitness room, sun deck pool and three massage rooms. A dedicated Wellness Host will lead fitness and mindfulness activities during cruises.

Off the ship, guests will explore Vietnam and Cambodia through included excursions focused on local communities, traditions and landscapes. Experiences include visits to traditional villages, local schools, silk-making and rattan workshops, and markets.
In Cambodia, excursions include exploring Phnom Penh by tuk-tuk, visiting the former royal capital of Oudong and participating in a traditional Buddhist blessing ceremony. In Vietnam, guests can take a trishaw ride through Tan Chau, visit local craftsmen’s workshops and explore the Mekong Delta’s Tra Su Forest and Sanctuary by sampan.
Travelers sailing Charms of the Mekong can add a three-night stay in Bangkok to their trip. Riches of the Mekong offers a choice between a three-night Bangkok extension and a four-night extension in Central Vietnam.
