American Cruise Lines Buys Ships From Shuttered American Queen Voyages

American Cruise Lines has acquired four vessels from American Queen Voyages, which shut down in February, reports Travel Weekly.

American Cruise Lines successfully bid on: American Duchess, American Countess, American Empress and American Queen. The ships previously sailed on the Mississippi River, the Columbia River and the Snake River.

The company paid $2.15 million for American Queen, $1.6 million each for American Empress and American Countess, and $200,000 for American Duchess, per Travel Weekly.

The company also bought American Queen Voyages’ intellectual property, such as business records, website domain names and trademarks, for $750,000.

All in, American Cruise Lines spent $6.3 million in cash.

Once the purchase is finalized, American Cruise Lines will have 25 total ships in its fleet, including paddlewheelers, coastal ships and river boats.

American Queen Voyages stopped operating on February 20. Not long after, its parent company, Hornblower Group, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
