Riviera Travel River Cruises is introducing a new guarantee that gives travelers more flexibility when significant itinerary changes are required before departure, including disruptions caused by low water levels, extreme weather or natural disasters.
Under the Riviera Vacation Guarantee, travelers have the option to accept a revised itinerary and receive a goodwill gesture, such as a future travel credit; reschedule the same vacation for the following year at the original price; or cancel and receive a full refund within seven days.
Riviera Travel River Cruises will personally contact travel advisors to explain itinerary changes, outline available options and provide support throughout the process.
“Travel advisors put their trust in us every time they recommend our brand to a client and we take that responsibility seriously,” says Stuart Milan, president of North America at Riviera Travel River Cruises. “While certain circumstances that can impact a traveler’s plans may be beyond our control, how we respond is not.”
The Riviera Vacation Guarantee also commits Riviera Travel River Cruises to canceling a departure if the company determines it cannot deliver the vacation experience guests expect because of significant disruptions, rather than proceeding with an experience that falls short of its standards.
For disruptions that occur during a trip, the company says its cruise directors, hosts and tour managers will provide in-person communication, answer questions and help identify solutions.
Riviera Travel River Cruises says it already monitors 52 river gauges daily to track water levels and anticipate potential itinerary changes. Travelers receive updates 14 and seven days before departure, followed by personal communication no later than 72 hours before departure if changes are anticipated.
When disruptions require itinerary adjustments, Riviera Travel River Cruises says it prioritizes preserving the vacation experience rather than replacing scenic sailing with extended motorcoach transfers. The new guarantee adds the option of a full refund when significant changes before departure leave travelers unwilling to proceed.

The new guarantee comes as Riviera Travel River Cruises continues to grow its North American business. This week, the brand announced that it’s on track to exceed 100% year-over-year growth in its North American business for the second consecutive year, fueled by rising demand for river cruises, solo travel and group bookings.
As of September 2026, Riviera Travel River Cruises’ North American business was up 92% year over year. Bookings on its Rhine and Moselle itineraries have increased 200% while bookings for its Mekong River itinerary, introduced in 2025, are up 300%
Demand for solo travel is also growing. Riviera Travel River Cruises said its solo bookings have more than doubled year over year, while demand for solo departures has increased 80% compared with 2025. The company plans to convert its ship George Eliot into the world’s first dedicated solo cruise ship in 2027.
Group bookings have emerged as the company’s fastest-growing segment, driven in part by a promotion that allows the eighth guest in a group to sail for free, according to Riviera Travel River Cruises.
“When we rebranded in 2025, we had the vision of making Riviera Travel River Cruises a household name, one that would be known for delivering a truly exceptional product and experience,” says Milan. “We are overjoyed to be celebrating another banner year in 2026 and excited to continue the mission in 2027, welcoming more North Americans onboard our ships than ever before and expanding our offerings in some very special ways.”
The company attributed much of its North American growth to its relationships with travel advisors. As of September 2026, more than 3,000 travel advisors had registered for Riviera Explorer, the company’s training program, which marked its first anniversary. Over the previous year, participants completed more than 55,000 training modules, and more than 600 advisors graduated from the program.
“Our success over the last two years is a testament to our dedicated team and the valuable relationships we have continued to build with our travel advisor partners, who believe in our product and have been a driving force in reaching North American travelers,” says Milan.
Looking ahead to 2027, Riviera Travel River Cruises plans to expand its Southeast Asia offerings with an itinerary combining Vietnam, Cambodia and the Mekong River. The company has also announced its 2028 sales program and Riviera Moment collection, which features immersive river cruise experiences tailored to North American travelers.
