The Destination Wedding & Honeymoon Calendar at Vacation (www.vacation.com), is a new interactive consumer site focused on the emotional reasons why people travel.
It is designed to provide ideas so couples can decide on the best locations for any month of the year.
The site was unveiled last spring by Travel Leaders Group, which said travelers can use it to research information on specific kinds of travel. When they are ready to receive personalized advice, they'll be matched with an appropriate Travel Leaders agent.
Following the creation this year of the Travel Leaders Network-which included the Vacation.com group-the Vacation.com URL became dormant, John Lovell, president of the Travel Leaders Network, had explained. But the name was too valuable an asset to lose, and the former site was completely rebranded in a move that Lovell said, "Will change the face of how travel is sold, researched and consumed."
Vacation's interactive Destination Wedding & Honeymoon Calendar provides tips on "where to go" and "where to skip" based on the month or season in which couples are planning their event.
For international travel in August, for example, Iceland is noted as a fun destination with breathtaking scenery. Visitor numbers for the country drop off quickly in this month, but the days are still long and the weather is nice enough to take in the waterfalls, volcanoes and changing landscaping.
For those who want to stay closer to home, Park City, Utah, is suggested as uncrowded in August-the best season to hike and bike its mountains.
The calendar also recommends August as a time to skip traveling to Rome because many Europeans take an extended holiday this time of year and restaurants, shops and sites may be closed or have limited hours.

It's also best to avoid Miami in August unless couples enjoy 90 plus degree days and high humidity, Vacation says. The city is best saved for the winter or spring seasons.
"The 'best destinations' rely on a combination of the city or country, season, length of stay, activities and amenities that satisfy the tastes and desires of individual couples. It can be overwhelming," said Brian Hegarty, Vacation's vice president of marketing.
"The special calendar we created for Vacation is designed to be a fun way to make the decision-making process a little easier and informative," he added. "In fact, an entire section of the site is specially designed to help engaged couples navigate questions they may have and even questions they may not yet have considered."

The site-what Travel Leaders Network calls "a celebration of why people travel"-features six content-rich categories-including Play (Adventures + Events), Unwind (Resorts + Spas), Bond (Families + Groups), Celebrate (Weddings + Honeymoons), Savor (Food + Wine) and Explore (Destinations + Cultures).
That content includes articles, online quizzes, videos, infographics and podcasts designed to help travelers plan vacations they will love.
