If you are a big fan of "Drink and Draw" events, grab your friends because you might want to try travel and draw.

A new walking vacation from the Blue Walk explores some of the highlights of Italy with an artist, who helps guests sketch the region's famous sights.

Art Walk Italy is a unique, seven-night walking vacation. The journey is built on onsite sketching and watercolor classes combined with daily coastal walks and tours of villages steep in Old World charm.

The trip is led by American artist and teacher Leslie Fehling, who tutors guests in drawing, watercolor techniques, hand lettering, page design and travel sketching-at the same time that they are admiring the scenic beauty of some of the world's most stimulating environments.

The journey takes place September 22-29, 2018; dates that take advantage of good weather and fewer crowds in the popular Italian destination.

"Going to these popular destinations during the shoulder seasons, when they are relatively free of crowds, is the best time to 'brush up' on your creative nature," said Jeannette Candau, co-owner of The Blue Walk. "If you're new to drawing, Fehling is experienced in helping students bring out their best to capture the essence of the quaint village scenes and stunning coastal trails."

The journey beings in Milan, then Art Walk Italy guests spend three nights in the town of Rapallo, from which they visit Cinque Terre and Portofino. The group then travels by train to Lake Como, at foot of the Alps in Northern Italy. Guests will have the chance to sketch the villas, mountains, and lakes in Bellagio and Lenno.

Guests can choose an optional three-night extension from Lake Como that begins September 29 to October 2, 2018, and visits Venice, Verona and Padua, Italy.

Rates for Art Walk Italy start at $3,350, based on double occupancy, and prices for the extension start at $1,095 per person, based on double occupancy.

The Blue Walk also offers a variety different tours. Spring journeys are sold out, but there are still spaces available for fall itineraries. The company is also accepting reservations for their 2019 tours.
