Tour operator EF Go Ahead Tours has launched a new heritage trip to Ghana, Ghana Adventure: Accra to Cape Coast, in collaboration with the country's Beyond the Year of Return campaign for more heritage travel after the country's memorialization of the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first enslaved Africans to what is now the United States in 2019.

Offering a chance for education and reconnection, the trip is a 12-day guided adventure through Ghana's history, with itineraries departing first in March 2023. The round-trip Accra itinerary begins in the capital of Ghana, where travelers will visit the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre, Black Star Square, Trashy Bags Africa, Fort James, originally a slave fort, and more.

Then, travelers will travel to Komasi, where they'll visit a cacao farm, the Manhyia Palace, West Africa's largest open-air market and Ashanti villages, where travelers can learn how Kente cloth is made. They'll travel on to Cape Coast and then return to Accra after that.

Other attractions and experiences included in the tour are the Assin Masso Slave Camp, Cape Coast Castle, Kakum National Park and a trip to Global Mamas, a fair-trade organization helping to empower local Ghanaian mothers by selling their handmade goods across the globe.

"We are honored to give our travelers the opportunity to visit Ghana and gain an immersive understanding of its powerful history and rich culture," said Lael Kassis, Vice President of market innovation and development at EF Go Ahead Tours. "The Ghanaian story is entwined with so many whose ancestors were brought to the United States as enslaved people. We've established close relationships with partners in Ghana who look forward to welcoming travelers into their communities."

The trip starts at $4,439 per person. Travelers who book the tour have a fully refundable booking period of 60 days from the booking date, so if travelers change their mind, they'll receive a full refund on whatever they've paid.
