Adventures, has announced its first trips to Dominica, the first global
adventure operator to launch trip of this kind.
Activities range from invigorating hikes, towering
waterfalls and swimming with sperm whales to immersive encounters with the
island’s local indigenous communities. Trips
feature upgraded experiences with a focus on physical activity,
one-of-a-kind accommodations, elevated dining and an “OMG Day” where adventures
can choose between two different immersive experiences.
“G Adventures has always sought to help travelers see
destinations in a new way,” said Yves Marceau, VP of Product at G Adventures in
a statement. “We’re incredibly excited to expand our Caribbean offering with
Dominica and to shine a light on its incredible natural and cultural richness.
By moving beyond the traditional cruise narrative, we’re helping travelers
experience the island more deeply while ensuring tourism revenue reaches local
and Indigenous communities.”
Waterfalls, Volcanic Peaks and Kalinago Culture
This eight-day adventure based in Roseau explores Dominica’s
diverse terrain with a visit to iconic Trafalgar Falls, where twin cascades
tumble into cool natural pools, and hiking to lesser-visited Middleham Falls,
the largest on the island where travelers can swim in the mystical mist-filled
basin.
Marine experiences Champagne Beach, famous for its
underwater volcanic bubbles to paddle and snorkel among vibrant marine life.
Inland adventures continue along mangrove-lined Indian River, featured in Pirates
of the Caribbean.
Travelers will explore Cabrits National Park, home to
historic Fort Shirley Garrison, and enjoy relaxed beachside dining at a local
favorite, Keeping it Real. The signature Geluxe “OMG Day” offers two options:
swimming through the dramatic Titou Gorge followed by a natural hot springs soak,
or visiting Spanny and Jacko Falls with optional evening whale watching.
A meaningful cultural experience with the Kalinago people on
Dominica’s east coast is the highlight of the trip. Travelers visit the
Kalinago Barana Autê model village, participate in traditional cassava
bread-making, explore local farms, and walk sections of the Waitukubuli
National Trail—supporting G Adventures’ commitment to community tourism.
Whales, Waterfalls & the Wild Caribbean
This trip focuses on Dominica’s extraordinary marine life,
with five days dedicated to responsible whale encounters. Travelers have the
rare opportunity to swim with sperm whales in their natural habitat in one of
the only places in the world where this is possible.
Beyond whale encounters, guests can enjoy time at Champagne
Beach. Travelers head out with a local guide to the bubbling seabed with coral,
tropical fish and other marine life. Snorkeling equipment is included.
Dominica is home to a resident year-round population of
sperm whales and the island recently established the world’s first
marine-protected area for these animals—an 800-square-kilometer reserve to
safeguard the species while supporting sustainable tourism. With two-thirds of
the world’s whale species found in its waters, Dominica stands out as a global
leader in marine biodiversity. All encounters are conducted in strict adherence
to G Adventures’ robust Animal Welfare Policies, ensuring a responsible and
conservation-focused experience.
