Due to formidable demand, Intrepid Travel has introduced three new eight- to 11-day Women’s Expeditions in Peru, Cambodia, and Bhutan.
“The new trips, ranging from eight to 11 days, are led by local female trip leaders and feature immersive, women-led experiences that support women-owned businesses and break down long-standing gender barriers in tourism, Intrepid Travel said, adding that women now account for upward of half of its global clientele, with “he Women’s Expeditions experiencing a growth of 32% in 2025 alone.
“Notably, 77% of travelers on these trips are booking solo, underscoring the continued rise of independent female travel,” Intrepid added.
The new expeditions will also “directly support eight additional women-owned businesses across the three destinations,” the tour operator said.
Just some of the highlights of the eight-day Peru expedition include day-hiking in the Sacred Valley, including Machu Picchu, and the less-trafficked Chinchero-to-Urquillos trail in the Andes, as well as a visit to Ocotuan, a rural community near Umasbamba.
The eight-day Cambodia expedition kicks off with a tuk-tuk tour around Siem Reap via “Tuk Tuk Srey, a social enterprise that creates meaningful employment opportunities for local women and helps support their families,” Interpid said, along with a visit to the Angkor temple complex, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and much more.
The 11-day Bhutan Women’s expedition will feature a range of day hikes, including Tiger’s Nest, where tour participants can explore the Taktsang Monastery, and a Wangditse hike offering spectacular views of the Thimphu Valley. Another highlight is a visit to the Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup nunnery and a Bhutanese cooking class at a farmhouse in Gangtey.
“Women are not just participating in travel, they’re driving it,” said Erika Kritikides, Interpid Travel’s general manager of experiences. “As we expand this range, we’re intentionally choosing destinations where tourism can create meaningful economic opportunity for women.”
