As all-inclusive travel continues to appeal to a growing sector of the traveling population, Apple Leisure Group (ALG) continues to grow at record speed.
Already during the first half of the year, ALG added 12 projects in seven locations across Mexico, the Caribbean and Europe.
"ALG is making waves on a global scale-expanding our development pipeline to include new markets in Europe while maintaining our strong foothold in destinations like Mexico and the Caribbean," said Javier Coll, executive vice president and chief strategy officer of ALG.
"As we continue to grow, our hotel owners and investors have unprecedented access to the largest distribution network in the U.S., Mexico and the Caribbean, offering additional opportunities to yield higher return on investment on their properties," Coll elaborated.
The company now serves approximately 3.2 million passengers annually.
In May, AMResorts announced it planned to bring its popular Secrets Resorts & Spas and Dreams Resorts & Spas, to Europe. It also created a new three-star all-inclusive resort brand catering to families and couples called Amigo Hotels & Resorts, which will also launch in Europe.
AMResorts and Grupo Hotelero Santa Fe signed a strategic alliance that began on July 1, 2018, and in St. Martin, ALG also has plans to bring its Secrets Resorts & Spas brand to the island.
All of these plans add up to the largest pipeline of all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean with more than 6,000 rooms in development.
In addition to its growing pipeline of new hotel and resort developments, ALG is rounding out its distribution capability as well. Earlier in the year, the company joined forces with the Mark Travel Corporation, a leader of owned and managed vacation brands, and together ALG now counts 12 award-winning companies under its umbrella.
The acquisition increased ALG's distribution capability and the company renamed its ALG Distribution department to ALG Vacations to better reflect ALG's product and purpose after the acquisition.
ALG has also made updates to leadership.
Jordi de las Moras has taken on the role of managing director of Apple Leisure Group, Europe, and Lynn Torrent joined the company as executive vice president and president of ALG Vacations. Torrent is responsible for all aspects of the company's tour and destination management businesses.
