The Mexican Caribbean continues to gain momentum as one of the world's most coveted vacation destinations and it isn't hard to understand why.

In addition to sun-soaked beaches and world-class accommodations, the region is overflowing with fascinating history, culture, nature and wildlife, mouthwatering cuisine and much more. Plus, it's never been more affordable or accessible to visit.

Not sure where to begin? Consider these amazing cities.

Cancun

Undoubtedly the most well-known city in the Mexican Caribbean, Cancun is unmatched in terms of its beaches, resorts and nightlife offerings, making it a popular tourist hotspot year-round.

Cancun offers countless opportunities for fun, relaxation and adventure. Some will be hard-pressed to find a reason to venture from their all-inclusive resort while others will be drawn to local attractions and nearby Isla Mujeres.

Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen is another can't-miss destination on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula that is essentially tailor-made for visitors.

The beaches here are some of the most beautiful in all of the Caribbean while the bustling Fifth Avenue draws countless tourists for its numerous restaurants, bars and shops. Consider a stay at The Fives Downtown Hotel & Residences Curio Collection by Hilton for easy access to it all.

Cozumel

Cozumel is a popular port for cruise ships and a beloved destination by scuba divers. The island is also home to an array of wildlife, Mayan ruins and exceptional beaches.

Tulum

Located some 80 miles southwest of Cancun (about a two-hour drive), Tulum is renowned for its ancient ruins and gorgeous beaches.

Visitors can dive into cenotes, sample delicious and authentic Mexican cuisine, achieve Zen through Yoga and other outdoor activities, learn about Mayan culture and a whole lot more.
