Lending a Hand in Siem Reap

On the 16-day Vietnam, Cambodia and the Riches of the Mekong itinerary, AmaWaterways guests have the opportunity to participate in an excursion to the Banteay Srei temple.
Not only do guests have the option to visit this temple, but they can also visit a school. AmaWaterways is a sponsor of the ODA (Opportunites of Development thru Art) Free Village English School in Siem Reap, Cambodia, and visitors can make a stop here during their trip.
Children at this school are given the opportunity to work on their English-language skills so they are better able to find jobs in the future. More than 600 children are enrolled in this school.

The guests on this tour are usually curious as to what they can pack in their bags to donate to the school. As far as school supplies go, pencils, erasers, small notebooks, highlighters, UNO cards and similar supplies are suggested. Personal hygiene items such as shampoo and toothbrushes are also helpful.
Monetary donations are available online in case travelers who’d like to help do not have this particular tour booked. AmaWaterways is proud to be a part of helping this wonderful community, and they encourage travelers to make a visit to the school while in the area.
