Tourism Impacts Women Around the World

Sustainable travel can play a huge role in impacting destinations around the world.
G Adventures along with The Planterra Foundation is constantly working to guarantee travel is benefiting the destinations they visit and specifically that it’s benefiting women. Since 60-70 percent of the travel industry is made up of women, it’s no surprise G Adventures wants them to thrive.
Several women have benefited greatly from G Adventures’ programs throughout the years.
For example, in New Delhi there is a program called Women On Wheels. This program provides training for women to become professional drivers. They are also trained on self-defense and first aid.
G Adventures partners with Women On Wheels for all of their tours in New Delhi. Guests traveling on these tours will have the pleasure of meeting and interacting with the women during their airport transfer.
In addition, the Moshi Mobile Mamas program in Tanzania is dedicated to training 30 women each year in business. The women are then provided funding to get a head start on their own businesses shortly thereafter. Travelers with G Adventures each receive a handmade bracelet from women in the program.
These programs along with many others help women around the world to feel confident in themselves and allow them to leave their own footprints on the world.
Read about these programs, as well as a few personal stories, on G Adventures’ blog.
