Dear Tammy: Is there a list of questions I should ask my clients when they're interested in traveling to a certain location? Or can I just wing it?

Tammy: In order for you to completely understand all of your clients traveling wants and needs, it really is a good idea for you to have a list of questions you can ask them. No two clients are going to be the same, so it's important for you to understand each clients traveling preferences. All of the answers to your questions are going to help you create the exact vacation they have in mind.

While it may seem like it would be easier for you to wing it when you're with a client, if you don't have a list to refer to, you may not ask all of the pertinent questions. And it's the answers to these questions that are going to help you create the perfect traveling experience for your clients. Maybe they'll end up being a high-end client, a great client to have!

Asking questions also allows you to understand their personality a little better, which is going to help you when it comes to providing them with certain traveling services. And just be sure to be very natural when asking your questions. You don't want your clients to feel like they're being grilled or being put on the hot seat. Instead, it should just be a natural conversation.

The below questions are just a start. I'm sure you can come up with many more questions to ask your clients, as it only takes a little bit of your time to give it some thought.

Some of the questions you should ask your clients:

-Do you already have a traveling destination in mind?

-Have you done any research on the area you plan on traveling to?

-Do you have any specific goals you want to achieve when taking this vacation?

-What are some of those things you liked, didn't like about your past travels?

-Are you looking for all-inclusive vacation information?

-Do you like to participate in a lot of outdoor activities?

-Have you ever had any bad traveling experiences?

-Would you like to purchase travel insurance?

Make sure to keep an ongoing file on all of your clients. The more you know about them and their traveling likes and dislikes, the more you're going to be able to provide them with the best travel agency services.
