The 2026 DR Social Ambassador FAM trip took place October 3-9, bringing together travel advisors and content creators to experience the Dominican Republic.

Our group began in Santo Domingo, exploring the ancient history here of the first city in the Americas.

In Santo Domingo, we stayed at Kimpton Las Mercedes, while also visiting and dining at Hodelpa Nicolás de Ovando, and Casas del XVI, Vignette Collection.  These historic buildings and their stunning courtyards are located in the colonial district, allowing guests to easily walk through the historical parts of a 500-year-old city.

We also had a chance to see the more modern part of Santo Domingo with a tour and dinner at the JW Marriott Santo Domingo.

From there, we ventured over to Casa de Campo in La Romana for site inspection and lunch before driving up to Miches.

Our host in Miches was Zemi Miches, a Curio Collection by Hilton, where we immersed ourselves into this up-and-coming destination. More and more luxury resorts are making their way up to Miches, and our FAM group was able to take a catamaran cruise to see the coastline and how much potential the area has for growth.

From Miches, we drove to W Punta Cana for a site inspection and lunch before arriving to our final host hotel in Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana. Following a morning tour of the resort and its sister property, the family-friendly side Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana, we went next door for a site inspection and lunch at Sanctuary Cap Cana.

Transportation and activities were provided by Sunset Caribbean, MICE Spots DMC, and 4MICE-DMC.

Watch the video above to see the highlights of our journey and hear from a few advisors about what stood out to them.

Travel advisors interested in becoming eligible for future FAM trips with the Dominican Republic Tourism Board can do so by becoming DR specialists with Travel Agent Academy.
