“The times they are a-changin'” – Bob Dylan

That classic line from Dylan came out in 1964…and 61 years later the world sure has evolved in a myriad of ways.

Just take a look at air travel for example. It still boggles my mind that people were smoking on planes for decades.

Following various experiments and several major mergers, today’s air travel landscape has changed significantly over the last 60 years.

Recently, the changes continue to surprise.

Spirit Airlines has emerged from bankruptcy with a new plan – focusing on premium travel.

Southwest Airlines dropped a hugely popular service, eliminating the free bags policy, which in turn outraged some of its loyal fanbase.

Frontier Airlines looked to capitalize on this moment and announced it would now offer free bags.

Meanwhile, Delta is aiming to build the aircraft of the future – one that uses more sustainable fuel.

The times will keep on changin’ too, so who knows what the future will really hold for the travel industry– other than the fact that we know people will always find a way to travel, especially with the planes continuing to fly.

Which recent airline changes have surprised you the most?
