Authorities in Mexico have given the go-ahead for a new Experiencias Xcaret's new water park in the Riviera Maya.
According to a report in Riviera Maya News, Suut Ha Water Park by Experiencias Xcaret will be the company's newest development in the region.
The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources approved the project's environmental impact statement, which was submitted in March.
Plans call for a 131-foot-high water slide, canals, swimming pools and spread over more than 5 acres of land.
The new project will be constructed near the company's Xplor park, creating nearly 200 jobs and an investment of approximately $53 million.
Xcaret has announced a number of new projects recently. After the success of its first branded hotel, Hotel Xcaret Mexico, Experiencias Xcaret announced plans for a follow-up property, La Casa de la Playa.
This is just the beginning, as the company has a master plan for continued expansion that includes a $2 billion investment, the creation of 6,000 hotel rooms and 10,000 jobs.
"Our Destino Xcaret Master Plan was designed to please every kind of traveler and keep our tourism offering in constant evolution," said Marcos Constandse, president of Destino Xcaret and CEO of Experiencias Xcaret. "Our All-Fun Inclusive program will continue to develop as we add parks and tours to the Experiencias Xcaret offering, and we will maintain our position as the leading Mexican tourism group, the only company to offer sustainable tourism entertainment, creating a new destination within Mexico and celebrating our commitment to our country."
