Safest Places to Travel to This Summer

Safe Summer Escapes

1/11
This summer travel period is poised to look a little different amid economic uncertainty and geopolitical tensions but it will remain a busy time for the industry regardless.

Many travelers will be taking trips abroad in the coming months and in doing so will likely be prioritizing safety and security when it comes to settling on their final destination.

Looking at the latest travel advisory updates issued by the U.S. State Department, in addition to the Institute for Economics and Peace's Global Peace Index and Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection's annual list of the safest places to travel, its clear that travelers have many options when it comes to vacationing abroad without compromising their peace of mind this summer.

Here are some of the safest destinations awaiting travelers right now.

Aruba

2/11
Aruba calls itself "one happy island" and for good reason. The beaches are beautiful, the weather is always spectacular, its culture is vibrant and welcoming and it sits just off the South American coast, keeping it out of the path of most hurricanes. The island currently receives a Level 1 (exercise normal precautions) travel advisory from the U.S. State Department.

Australia

3/11
Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection named Australia the second-safest country to visit in 2025. It also ranks inside of the top 20 on the Global Peace Index and receives a Level 1 travel advisory from the U.S. State Department. June-August is also Australia's winter and low season so travelers can look forward to better deals on airfares and accommodations.

Bermuda

4/11
Travelers looking to venture off the beaten path while maintaining peace of mind should consider a getaway to Bermuda. According to the U.S. State Department, Americans can exercise normal precautions while exploring pink-sand beaches, maritime history and more in the British island territory.

Canada

5/11
Despite ongoing tariff-related tensions, the United States' neighbor to the north continues to be one of the safest countries in the world, ranking third on Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection's list of the safest places to travel in 2025 and 11th on the Global Peace Index. Canada also receives a Level 1 travel advisory from the U.S. State Department this summer.

Denmark

6/11
The sometimes overlooked Scandinavian country of Denmark is an easy choice for travelers prioritizing safety this summer. After all, it ranks eighth on the Global Peace Index and 10th on Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection's list of the safest places to travel in 2025. There is also a multitude of reasons why the Danish capital of Copenhagen should be your next European getaway.

Iceland

7/11
Iceland has ranked number one on the Global Peace Index every year for nearly two decades and it also ranks first on Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection's list of the safest places to travel this year. Unsurprisingly, it even receives a Level 1 travel advisory from the U.S. State Department. While summer visitors won't see the northern lights they can look forward to spending plenty of time outdoors surrounded by the country's magnificent nature.

Japan

8/11
Japan is hoping to welcome a record level of visitors in 2025. Being among the world's safest places to visit should certainly help it achieve that goal. The coveted Asian destination ranks 17th on the Global Peace Index and is listed at Level 1 on the U.S. State Department's four-level travel advisory scale.

Malta

9/11
The sun-drenched Mediterranean destination of Malta is overflowing with beauty, history and charm as well as one-of-a-kind experiences that travelers can look forward to without worry. It remains one of the safest places in Europe to visit and receives a Level 1 travel advisory from the U.S. State Department heading into June.

Netherlands

10/11
Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection lists the Netherlands as one of the world's safest place to visit in 2025 and the European country ranks 18th on the Global Peace Index. That's excellent news for travelers hoping to experience not only bustling Amsterdam but lesser-known gems like Rotterdam and The Hague.

New Zealand

11/11
Ranking fourth on the Global Peace Index and sixth on Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection's list of the safest places to visit this year, New Zealand boasts fewer crowds during its winter season (June-August) when visitors can look forward to less traffic and a thrilling ski season.
