Just steps from San Antonio's famed River Walk, the luxury Grand Hyatt San Antonio has long been a fixture on the south-central Texas city's skyline. The property is located amid iconic riverside restaurants, cafes and quirky shops in the heart of San Antonio's historic downtown. In honor of its decade in business, the hotel recently completed a sweeping renovation that cost nearly $20 million and transformed all 1003 guest rooms. The updates also included the hotel's lobby, meeting spaces and its popular Bar Rojo.

A Sense of Arrival

The lobby of the Grand Hyatt San Antonio was a major focus of renovation efforts. Kyle Stevens, the director of sales and marketing, said that while guests loved the grand feel of the existing lobby, they wanted more seating areas designed for gathering in groups, allowing mingling and networking. "We've added pockets of seating, as well as more outlets in the walls and tables so that people can sit and work," said Stevens.

Casual Meets Upscale

The newly refreshed Bar Rojo oozes a casual meets upscale vibe. The lobby bar is a River Walk hotspot known for its handcrafted cocktails and small plate dishes.

Modernized Bar Furniture

Seating at Bar Rojo has also been increased and modernized. The new furniture incorporates embedded electrical outlets and wireless technology in the marble table tops.

Updated Colors

Refreshed guest rooms at the San Antonio hotel are accented in southwestern colors and contemporary furniture. The beds meanwhile are plush Hyatt Grand Beds topped with luxury linens. There have also been technology upgrades, making wireless high-speed internet available for free in all hotel rooms and public spaces.

Sleek, Stylish Bathroom Spaces

Updated guest room bathrooms now feature natural stone accents. "Everything throughout the hotel looks so good, we are really excited," said Stevens. "Our hotel depicts our grand brand, which is extremely upscale and luxurious."

Modern Gatherings

Meeting spaces at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio have also been updated, providing 13 indoor and outdoor venues to host weddings, social gatherings or corporate events. The hotel also includes a 5,200 square foot balcony overlooking San Antonio.

Renovated Floors and Walls

Work in Style in Comfort

Guest rooms now feature generous workspaces with upgraded seating. "We looked at the seating arrangements within guest rooms, particularly for the desk," said Stevens. "We've added a chair that is a lot more comfortable for the desk, allowing guests to work for longer periods of time. In addition, we added a chair that allows for lounging while watching television."

Central Location

The Grand Hyatt San Antonio is located next to San Antonio's Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center and is connected to the world famous Alamodome via a footbridge. Though not part of the renovations, the hotel also includes a heated roof-top pool and offers morning yoga classes, as well as a state-of-the-art fitness center with cardio machines.
