The brand-new, five-star, private-island Emerald Maldives Resort & SPA will officially open on December 4, 2019, touting a deluxe all-inclusive offering, a spectacular location and forward-thinking design that's sure to wow guests.

The 120-villa resort sits atop the Raa Atoll, which shelters some of the world's most diverse marine life, and surrounds one of the Maldives' largest lagoons. An unusual feature of this private island resort is that Emerald Maldives encompasses a wraparound reef, so that guests are never more than a few steps from the water, and potential encounters with exotic fish, turtles and manta rays.

Each guest villa is nothing short of a masterpiece, combining tropical aesthetic elements with a contemporary architectural and interior design approach to produce modern, tranquil spaces. Architect Edward David Poole outfitted villas with bold, color-blocked bedrooms, complemented by marine-life wall art, and expansive, gleaming white marble bathrooms.

Emerald Maldives presents an array of international cuisines, carefully curated by head Chef Aldo Cadu, at its four restaurants, each with its own menu, theme, style and ambiance. Its signature Aqua Restaurant offers barefoot luxury dining, where chefs prepare dishes in front of guests at a variety of cooking stations. Amazonico debuts as the first and only South American restaurant in the Maldives, Asiatique features live cooking shows at its teppanyaki grill and such delicacies as fresh-caught lobster are served up at the Beach Club Grill Restaurant.

The Emerald Collection-an Italian company renowned for its creation and management of luxury, all-inclusive resorts across the Caribbean, Indian Ocean and East Africa-developed Emerald Maldives Resort & SPA with an emphasis on sustainability. Every villa has been outfitted with solar panels, which power water heaters all across the resort. The island is also equipped with a composting facility and recyclable water irrigation system, and plastic waste is reduced through the use of paper straws and reusable glass bottles.

An inventory of 120 luxurious villas is divided into 60 beach villas, which sit on the soft, white sand that surrounds the resort, and 60 overwater villas, with eleven categories to choose from. All guests stay on a deluxe all-inclusive basis, meaning that everything is covered during their visit under the initial, up-front cost. Guests can dine at any of the four restaurants as often as they wish, enjoy unlimited premium spirits and access to their mini-bars (restocked daily), plus non-motorized watersports equipment at no additional cost.
