Construction Halts on Acapulco's Mundo Imperial Complex

Groupo Autofin Mexico, the parent company of Mundo Imperial, announced the cessation of construction of the mega-resort, entertainment and convention complex in Acapulco due to the existing international economic crisis. Considered a temporary delay after five years of continuous construction and an investment of over $300 million, it is expected that further development of the resort, Sol Imperial spa, Il Duomo convention center and Promenade at Mundo Imperial will resume upon improvement in global financial conditions. A more specific timeline has not yet been set. The Forum at Mundo Imperial, which opened in November 2008 with a special debut concert event featuring renowned musician Yanni, "Yanni Voices and Special Guests" will continue to operate under the management of OCESA. OCESA is part of the Grupo CIE, Interamerican Entertainment Corporation, which is the main concert and theatrical producer in Latin America and also includes OCESA Teatro and Ticketmaster Mexico.
