Travelers with celiac disease often find it difficult to relax on vacation, worried about the possibility of contamination at every single meal. Now, they can rest easy during the first-ever entirely gluten-free ocean cruise to the British Isles, sailing in May 2028 aboard the Oceania Vista.
The voyage is the brainchild of Celiac Cruise, a company that launched in 2018 to help support celiac and gluten-free communities. Celiac Cruise has trained more than 30,000 cruise members across Oceania Cruises, Royal Caribbean and AmaWaterways on celiac disease and gluten-free safety protocols to eliminate risks of cross-contact and contamination.
“With Celiac Disease impacting two immediate family members, it brings me great joy on both a personal and professional level that we are able to host the largest-ever completely gluten-free cruise aboard the Oceania Vista, and first-of-its-kind to the British Isles,” says Maureen Basye, co-founder of Celiac Cruise. “Giving the Celiac and broader gluten-free communities a means to travel completely worry-free and let vacation feel exactly how it’s supposed to—easy—is our entire purpose at Celiac Cruise.”
Sailing May 31 to June 12, 2028, from Southampton, the 12-night gluten-free cruise aboard the Oceania Vista will take passengers to ports across England, Ireland and Scotland. In addition to crew member training, every food label will be individually reviewed and vetted. Detailed galley walkthroughs and venue evaluations will also be conducted to ensure the highest standards of gluten-free safety and compliance.
While aboard Oceania Vista, guests can dine at any of the ship’s 11 restaurants and cafes, including four specialty restaurants. Additionally, 24/7 room-service is also available.
Beyond the food, guests can also enjoy the spacious pool deck, the Aquamar Spa + Vitality Center, group fitness classes, culinary and art workshops, inclusive beverage packages, a casino, a library, live entertainment, boutique shopping, unlimited Wi-Fi, pre-paid gratuities and more.
In port, guests will enjoy visits to Cobh, Dublin, Liverpool, the Scottish Highlands, Orkney Islands and Edinburgh. Each port offers pre-vetted gluten-free excursions.
