The Travel Institute unveiled its revised specialist course for the highly lucrative honeymoon and wedding market.
Originally published in 2004, the newest version features the latest statistics, research and trends to help travel consultants build a successful and profitable travel specialty.
The revised course also offers updated information about the most popular wedding destinations and their legal requirements for marriage. The course also provides agents with tried-and-true tips on how to use social media to promote their honeymoon expertise.
The Travel Institute's Honeymoons and Destination Weddings Course is now available in both PDF and print formats. It is divided into five lessons and can be completed in approximately one to two hours. The lessons include an introduction to the honeymoon market, destination weddings, bridal shows, other marketing channels, and selling to honeymooners.
There is no better time than now to capitalize on this booming markets. Couples spend nearly $28,000 on a destination wedding - 7.4 percent more than the average nuptials, according to the 2013 Destinations Weddings Report issued by The Wedding Report, Inc.
Furthermore, more couples spend in the $30,000 to $50,000 range for a destination wedding compared to a traditional ceremony.
After completing the coursework, enrollees who pass the related test will earn The Travel Institute's Honeymoons and Destination Weddings specialist designation.
A second level of certification is also available for those who pass the test, complete items from an experiential checklist, and have at least one year travel industry experience. Those enrollees earn the Certified Honeymoons and Destination Weddings designation.
