Flights to the South Pacific are getting an upgrade.
Air Tahiti Nui announced that four Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners will join its fleet in November. The new cabin layout is available in the Global Distribution System (GDS) for worldwide distribution and sales.
The first Tahitian Dreamliner will fly between Auckland, New Zealand, and Papeete, Tahiti, at which time the current Airbus A340-300 fleet will begin to be phased out. The integration of the new fleet will be completed by September 2019, which will coincide with the airline's 20th anniversary.
Cabins will be redesigned with a new Tahitian look designed to create an engaging customer experience that brings the islands of Tahiti alive from the moment guests step onboard.
A New Premium Cabin and Class Configuration
With the new planes, come new classes and seat configurations. Air Tahiti Nui will offer three class configurations, including the introduction of a new premium economy section.
Moana Premium class will offer extra leg room and relaxation space with 38 inches of pitch, 19 inches of width and a seat recline of eight inches in a dedicated cabin with 32 seats in a 2-3-2 arrangement.
The aircraft will offer two Moana Economy cabins with 232 seats in a 3-3-3 configuration. The long-range economy-class seats offer a pitch of 31 inches and a seat recline of six inches.
The airline's Poerava Business Class is also getting an upgrade with the introduction of a 180-degree, full-flat seat designed by Rockwell Collins. The cabin will feature a total of 30 seats in a 2-2-2 configuration of five rows. Seats have 60 inches of pitch and a fully flat 78-inch bed for sleeping as well as personal lighting and a privacy divider.
Connected Entertainment System
The aircraft will be equipped with a new entertainment system with premium audio and video capability and multi-touch screens at every seat. Business-class seats will be equipped with 16-inch screens, Premium Economy will feature 13-inch screens and Economy class will have 12-inch screens.
Passengers will be able to stay connected with Panasonic's eXConnect satellite broadband, available from Los Angeles, Paris, Auckland and Tokyo to Tahiti.
