A plus-size first-class passenger on British Airways got stuck in his seat upon landing and had to be removed.
He was trapped for three hours.
The man was extricated by emergency services when a door on the plane was removed and he was hoisted out of his seat.
The man had already spent six and a half hours flying from Nigeria to London when he got stuck. Then he spent three more hours on the plane, waiting to be removed. Initially, the crew tried to help the man out of his seat to no avail.
Only when emergency services were called were they able to wrench the man from his seat.
According to the British newspaper, the Sun, a note from emergency services read: "A volumetric passenger is stuck in seat 1A. The plan is to remove the suite door and use a hoist to eject from the seat."
United States Airlines have been criticized for the shrinking width of their seats, but one media outlet reported that first class seats on British Airways are almost two feet wide.
British Airways had no comment.
