Alaska Airlines will be offering nonstop flights to London from seven U.S. cities on its website through an expanded oneworld alliance partnership with British Airways.
The new partnership allows travelers to book nonstop flights from Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Chicago and New York’s JFK to London Heathrow on Alaska Airlines’ website.
British Airways offers at least one daily flight from each of these cities. Travelers will be able to book their flights for June 18 and beyond. Later this year, travelers will also be able to purchase Alaska Airlines flights connecting to British Airways, including flights beyond London with the British air carrier.
Mileage Plan loyalty rewards members will also earn one reward mile for every mile they fly on British Airways. They also earn 100 percent elite qualifying miles when booking partner flights directly on Alaska’s website. Mileage Plan members can also redeem their miles for flights with British Airways.
“We’re excited to add our longstanding partner, British Airways, to our growing portfolio of alaskaair.com book direct airlines,” said Andrew Harrison, chief commercial officer for Alaska Airlines. “London is one the most requested global gateways by our guests and no one serves it better than British Airways and the oneworld alliance.”
The air carrier has been expanding its international connections for the past year, with new flights to Guatemala City, the Bahamas and Toronto. It’s also offering more direct flights between more destinations, like service from Portland to Atlanta and between Atlanta and Anchorage. It will fly its largest summer schedule to-date this year.
