Today marks the commencement
of Alaska
Airlines' new daily, nonstop flight connecting Seattle-Tacoma International
Airport (SEA) with Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), marking the
airline's sixth Canadian city served and providing travelers with convenient departure
and arrival times.
In Toronto,
passengers can explore the vibrant cityscape or seamlessly connect to other
Eastern Canadian destinations through Porter Airlines, Alaska's 30th global
airline partner. Porter offers flights to popular locations like Ottawa,
Montreal, Quebec City, Halifax and St. John's, among others. One-way flights to
these and Porter’s other destinations are currently available on Alaska’s
website, with additional booking possibilities slated for release later this
summer.
“There are so many
opportunities with our new service between our hometown airport and Toronto,
from tremendous leisure travel options to connecting a pair of key business
regions in North America,” said Kirsten Amrine, vice president of revenue
management and network planning for Alaska Airlines. “Toronto has a lot to
offer. And for our guests looking to venture into other areas of Eastern
Canada, Porter Airlines can take them there with its signature onboard
service.
Situated along the
shores of Lake Ontario, Toronto is Canada’s
largest city by population. The sprawling metropolis, boasts a dynamic urban
landscape, with a captivating downtown scene, ample parks and walkable
neighborhoods, historical points of interest, and diverse culinary and
entertainment options, all promising an array of experiences for visitors.

“We are very
excited to welcome Alaska Airlines to Toronto Pearson. Their service to Seattle
will provide much-needed capacity to the market and enhance customer
choice,” said Kurush Minocher, Executive Director, Customer Experience and
Airline Relations, Greater Toronto Airports Authority. “Last year, over a
third of passengers traveled between Toronto and Seattle, and we’re delighted
to enable this service for thousands of passengers while
simplifying travel to the West Coast, Alaska
and Hawaii.”
Alaska continues
to add international options for travelers out of SEA Airport, providing a wide
array of unique, adventurous experiences,” said Lance Lyttle, SEA Airport
Managing Director. “Ease of access throughout the continent brings Eastern
Canada closer with more competition.”
In addition to the
new Seattle-Toronto service, passengers can take advantage of Porter Airlines'
recent expansion into the U.S. West Coast, with flights from Los Angeles and
San Francisco to Toronto, which seamlessly connect with Alaska's extensive
network.
While the Seattle-Toronto
route marks a new development for Alaska Airlines, the airline already flies to
various other Canadian destinations, including Calgary, Edmonton, Kelowna,
Vancouver and Victoria.
