Some of the busiest airports in the United States are about to get a little swankier.
American Express is adding four new locations to its Centurion Lounge network, which is the largest expansion of the upscale brand to date.
The initiative will bring new and expanded lounges in four major hubs across the U.S. and U.K.
New and upgraded spaces are coming to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), and London Heathrow Airport (LHR) in 2027 and 2028.
"Since opening our first Centurion Lounge more than a decade ago, we continue to find ways to meet the growing demand for our premium airport lounge experiences," said Audrey Hendley, President of American Express Travel. “As the Centurion Lounge Network grows, we’re investing in the lounges our Card Members already know and love while continuing to open new spaces. We can’t wait for Card Members to experience what’s next in Philadelphia, Houston and London.”
Particularly notable is the new location at Newark airport, which had been previously announced, but now Amex plans to nearly double the lounge’s footprint.
“And in Newark, we’re expanding the new lounge from the 18,000 square feet originally announced to more than 30,000 square feet, making it the largest in our network and creating more space for Card Members to experience,” Hendley said.
At the Newark location in the airport’s Terminal A, guests can expect amenities like three New Jersey-themed bars and a Blue Roast by American Express Coffee and Wellness Bar with espresso and healthy options like smoothies and chia pudding.
Amex will also double the size of its Centurion Lounge in Philadelphia, upping its footprint to more than 12,000 square feet. The location will close for renovations beginning October 16, 2026, and reopen by the end of 2027.
One of the largest expansions will take place at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport. The size of the lounge will nearly triple from 8,000 square feet to more than 23,000 square feet. The added space will accommodate a new specialty dining restaurant and a second full-service bar.
Amex will also add a second Centurion Lounge location at London Heathrow, set to open in late 2028. The new lounge will be located in Terminal 5 and clock in at more than 9,000 square feet. All of the signature Centurion amenities will be available, from upscale food and beverage selections and comfortable seating areas to work spaces and a VIP area.
