This week, Avelo Airlines is expanding its network to include new routes out of its base in Connecticut, giving New England travelers more convenient and cost-effective options than ever before. And, this growth isn’t just in terms of domestic travel—ultra-low-cost carrier is also launching its first-ever flights to international destinations, increasing customers’ access to a pair of popular Caribbean destinations.

On Thursday, Avelo opened its base of operations Hartford's Bradley International Airport (BDL) and initiated its new service from BDL to two North Carolina airports: Wilmington International Airport (ILM) and Concord-Padgett Regional Airport (USA) near Charlotte. On November 15, the airline will also add routes from BDL to Florida’s Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB) and Lakeland Linder International Airport (LAL) near Orlando.

This week, travelers will also be able to fly from Hartford to Houston’s William P. Hobby Airport (HOU). And, also this week, Avelo will commence its first-ever scheduled international flights from Hartford, connecting passengers to Cancun and Jamaica’s Montego Bay. Only last year, Avelo launched its very first service to a destination outside the continental U.S. with flights to Puerto Rico 's San Juan Luis Munoz Marín International Airport (SJU).

With its opening of a base at BDL and two aircraft initially positioned in Hartford, Avelo has now established dual operations in the area alongside its other base in New Haven. This expansion represents its further investment in the Connecticut region and will allow the airline to considerably increase its convenient, affordable and reliable service across the Northeast.

“Over the last several years, Bradley has implemented many major improvements that have resulted in this airport being ranked by leading travel analysts as one of the best in the nation,” Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont remarked in a statement. “The addition of Avelo Airlines at Bradley will only increase this airport’s reputation as one of the most convenient airports in the Northeast.”

“Avelo is proud to be Connecticut’s Airline. Our Customers tell us they love flying Avelo, and we’re excited to make flying Avelo even more convenient for travelers across the state. With 29 nonstop destinations, including two popular international locations, it’s easier than ever for travelers to seamlessly and reliably get to and from Connecticut,” said Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy. He added, “And with three consecutive profitable quarters, Avelo is well-positioned for even more growth in the future.”

The freshly added domestic routes will run twice per week aboard Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft, with introductory one-way fares priced from just $56. To take advantage of this promotion, however, customers will need to book by November 14 for U.S. travel between January 9 and February 9, 2025. Operating on an ultra-low-cost model, Avelo’s fare are a base rate and do not include add-ons like carry-on and checked bags, assigned seating and other optional services.

Avelo made its debut in 2021 and has made a name for itself by flying unserved routes to largely underserved communities across the U.S. Even in high-demand destinations, the airline utilizes smaller regional airports to make the air travel experience a less-crowded, smoother and more enjoyable one. It has also distinguished itself through its industry-leading reliability, currently ranking first for on-time performance and boasting the lowest cancellation rate among U.S. airlines, according to leading third-party aviation data services company, Anuvu.
