A low-cost airline developed for travel
within the United States now wants to go overseas.
Breeze Airways has requested
permission
from the Federal Aviation Administration to fly the relatively new A220 on
transatlantic routes.
It would like to use the Airbus A220, which would be a milestone for the
small airline and the jet.
The carrier would like to fly to Europe, including Ireland and the
Caribbean.
It is still being determined where the flights would emanate from,
although speculation has it in New York and Boston because of their high Irish
descent and population. The flights would be about 3,000 miles, but the A220
has a range of nearly 4,000 miles.
The A220 is generally used for flights of that distance. Half of
Breeze's fleet is made up of those aircraft.
The most notable aspect is how quickly the airline has grown from
its debut in 2021. It was founded by David Neeleman, who was responsible for
creating JetBlue Airways.
Breeze has continually been adjusting its route schedule.
