Travelers heading to the United Kingdom will soon have access to ultra-fast, free Wi-Fi, thanks to British Airways’ newest in-flight amenity.
The London-based carrier just announced that it will add high-speed Starlink connectivity to its entire fleet starting in 2026.
Starlink has been revolutionizing in-flight Wi-Fi and entertainment, as its strong network allows passengers to stream content, play games, and complete work such as sending emails and editing online documents in real time. The connection is hailed as having low lag time and functions similar to Wi-Fi networks on the ground.
Once British Airways’ planes are outfitted with Starlink equipment, the airline’s passengers will have free access to the Wi-Fi no matter their cabin class. The carrier joins U.S. carriers like United, Hawaiian Airlines, and Alaska Airlines in committing to add free Starlink connectivity to their fleets.
“Launching Starlink on both our long-haul and short-haul aircraft is game-changing for us and our customers, elevating their experience on board our flights by offering them seamless connectivity from gate-to-gate,” said Sean Doyle, British Airways’ chairman and CEO. “Especially on short-haul, this will really differentiate us from our competitors.”
The airline says Starlink is part of a larger £7 billion initiative to upgrade its passenger experience, which includes on-the-ground improvements like new lounges in Miami and Dubai, dozens of new aircraft, and its forthcoming new first class suite that will debut on its retrofitted Airbus A380 planes in 2026.
