Next spring, Midwestern travelers will have a new nonstop option for visiting the vibrant capital of the United Kingdom, with British Airways’ latest route launch.
The U.K. flag carrier has announced it will begin seasonal service from London to St. Louis, Missouri in 2026. When the four-times weekly service launches in April 2026, it will make British Airways the only U.K. carrier to fly directly into the Midwestern city.
The airline has coordinated the inaugural flight to coincide with the 100th anniversary of Route 66, which runs through St. Louis. “The city’s stretch of the ‘Mother Road’ is packed with Americana charm, from vintage diners and neon signs to historic motels and roadside attractions, offering the perfect starting point for travelers seeking a classic US road trip experience,” the airline says.
The city is also known for its sprawling urban parks, its craft beer scene, and its sports teams, which range from St. Louis Cardinals baseball and St. Louis Blues hockey to the newer St. Louis City Soccer Club, which is part of Major League Soccer.
The seasonal route will connect London Heathrow (LHR) to St. Louis’s Lambert International Airport (STL). British Airways will operate the route with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner plane, outfitted with three cabin classes: World Traveller (economy), World Traveller Plus (premium economy), and Club World (business class).
On select flights, the aircraft’s business class will feature British Airways’ newest Club Suite, which offers a fully flat bed, a 17-inch entertainment screen, and direct aisle access at every seat.
Flights will depart London Heathrow at 4:25 p.m. and land in St. Louis at 7:30 p.m. local time, for a total of nine hours in the air. On the eastbound leg, passengers can expect a flight time of about eight hours, with flights departing STL at 10 p.m. and arriving at LHR at about noon the next day.
“St. Louis is a fantastic addition to our US network – it’s a destination in itself as a city with a rich history and a vibrant cultural scene, as well as a gateway to exciting destinations beyond this.” said Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ chief planning and strategy officer. “As the only direct route from the UK, this service will open up exciting new opportunities for our customers and further strengthen ties between the UK and the US Midwest.”
With the addition of St. Louis to its route map, British Airways will have 27 gateways in the U.S. The airline has been recently pushing to expand its U.S. operations, adding several new frequencies from the U.K. to its popular American destinations, including to Miami, San Diego, and Austin.
Flights on the STL route kick off on April 19 and will operate on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays throughout the summer season. Tickets are on sale now, with roundtrip fares as low as £529.
