Americans will have more opportunities to visit the Cayman Islands in the coming months as the British overseas territory's flag carrier has announced expanded flight service from Austin, Texas.
After reporting strong demand for its inaugural summer service between Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and Grand Cayman's Owen Roberts International Airport (GCM)—which concludes on Sunday, August 16—Cayman Airways plans to operate flights between Austin and Grand Cayman from December 20, 2026, through August 29, 2027.
The airline will even introduce a second weekly flight for the busy summer period. That flight will operate on Wednesdays from May 26, 2027, through August 11, 2027.
Flights from Austin will depart at 11:45 a.m. local time (12:45 p.m. during Daylight Saving Time) and arrive in Grand Cayman at 3:45 p.m. local time. Meanwhile, flights from Grand Cayman will depart at 8:15 a.m. and arrive in Austin at 10:15 a.m. (11:15 a.m. during Daylight Saving Time).
"When we launched Austin, we saw the potential to connect the Cayman Islands with one of the fastest-growing regions in the United States," Cayman Airways President and CEO Fabian Whorms said in a statement. "The market has responded exceptionally well, and this expansion reflects our commitment to developing routes where we see sustainable demand and long-term opportunity."
"By extending the season and introducing a second weekly flight, we are responding directly to customer demand while strengthening connectivity between the Cayman Islands and an important U.S. market," added Whorms. "As the national airline, we remain focused on delivering reliable air service that supports our customers, our tourism industry and the continued development of the Cayman Islands."
