After a long pandemic pause, interest was very high as Japan welcomed back tourists this year. 2024 promises to be even stronger for this unique destination, but North Americans have an advantage with earlier seasonal starts and expanded seat capacity from Air Canada.
At peak periods, Air Canada is offering a generous 1,100 seats each way, every day, between Canada and Japan, with up to two daily flights between Toronto and Tokyo, daily departures from Montreal and Vancouver, and flights between Vancouver and Osaka.
"Air Canada's Asia services continue to reflect strong demand and we are boosting capacity to this geographic area as we deploy our international diversification strategy,” said Mark Galardo, AC’s Executive Vice President, Revenue and Network Planning.
“This winter we are pleased to offer up to 57 flights per week between Canada and Asia, and up to 64 flights per week next summer,” Galardo added.
Next spring, seasonal Osaka flights from Vancouver will begin earlier on May 1, 2024, with three weekly flights increasing to four beginning June 17. Larger Boeing 777-300ER aircraft will operate on routes to Narita from Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.
At a Tokyo event earlier this year, Rocky Lo, Senior Director, Asia Revenue Management & Sales at Air Canada, was on hand to promote AC flights, and he pointed out that with more Japanese-inspired meal options aboard, the culinary journey can begin inflight. He also noted that through a partnership with Bell, Aeroplan members can message for free during flights.
