Data Reveals Top Ranking Air Travel Destinations in 2025

The travel season is wrapping up for 2025 — and these are the destinations that generated the most interest among leisure and business passengers who traveled by air in 2025.

Data compiled by Amadeus company, ForwardKeys, revealed the most popular destinations worldwide, top performers for year-on-year-growth, top APAC destinations and top destinations for business travel.

Most Popular Global Destinations

London maintained its lead as the world’s most visited destination in 2025. Tokyo followed close behind with a +2.3 percent share, while Paris climbed to third place (+2.0 percent), indicating broadly stable demand across these major hubs.

Other popular destinations included:

  • Bangkok (1.9 percent)
  • Dubai (1.8 percent)
  • Barcelona (1.8 percent)
  • Palma Mallorca (1.7 percent)
  • Osaka (1.6 percent)
  • Cancun (1.5 percent)
  • Antalya (1.3 percent)

Top Year-on-Growth Performers

Madrid and Alicante led the charge (both +10 percent) of the top performing destinations in terms of their growth over last year, with Punta Cana close behind (+9 percent). Dubai and Marrakech rounded out the top five with solid momentum (both +8 percent).

 Other notable destinations included:

  • Milan (+8 percent)
  • Malaga (+5 percent) 
  • Barcelona (+3 percent)
  • Palma Mallorca (+2 percent) 

Top APAC Destinations

APAC destinations continued their momentum into 2025, led by strong gains across North Asia. Okinawa topped the growth table (+36 percent), while Beijing (+29 percent), Shanghai (+27 percent), and Guangzhou (+26 percent) all posted robust year-on-year increases, underlining the resurgence of mainland China.

Other top performers in 2025:

  • Sapporo (+21 percent)
  • Nha Trang (+12 percent)
  • Hanoi (+11 percent)
  • Osaka (+11 percent)
  • Denpasar (+10 percent)
  • Kuala Lumpur (+ 8 percent)

Corporate Travel Climbers

Shanghai remained the fastest-growing international business destination in 2025, rising +10 percent year on year. Tokyo also strengthened its position with solid growth (+9 percent) and Madrid remained the largest of the top performers by share (2.2 percent) and grew +5 percent compared to 2024.

More international destinations include:

  • Copenhagen (+2 percent)
  • Bangkok (+2 percent)
  • Paris (0 percent)
  • Seoul (0 percent)
  • Munich (0 percent)
  • Singapore (-1 percent)
  • Amsterdam (-2 percent)
