Delta Air Lines Flight Makes Emergency Landing Without Nose Gear

A Delta Air Lines flight made a miraculous landing without its front landing gear at Charlotte Douglas International Airport on Wednesday.

The Boeing 717 aircraft was traveling from Atlanta carrying five crew members and 96 passengers when it was forced to make an emergency landing with its nose gear in the "up" position.

The plane landed safely and no injuries were reported. Passengers and crew deplaned using a slide onto the tarmac and were bussed to the terminal.

Passengers described a smooth experience on social media.

"Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and people. While this is a rare occurrence, Delta flight crews train extensively to safely manage through many scenarios and flight 1092 landed safely without reported injuries," Delta said in a statement.

"Our next focus is to take care of our customers on this flight, including retrieving their bags and seeing them to their final destinations safely. We apologize to our customers for what they experienced."

The impacted runway was closed until Wednesday evening and the aircraft was eventually removed and inspected.
