JetBlue
announced that it has become the first airline to accept Venmo, which provides
travelers with an easy and secure payment option when booking flights directly
with the carrier.
Rolling out in the next several months through the JetBlue
app, passengers in the United States will be able to purchase flights using
their Venmo balance or linked bank accounts, debit cards, or credit cards.
“We’re continually looking for ways to make it easier to
book a JetBlue flight on our website and mobile app,” said Carol Clements,
chief digital and technology officer, JetBlue. “Adding Venmo offers a seamless
payment option for customers who enjoy the ease and convenience of the Venmo
platform.”
“Travel is not just about the destination, but the people
you go with and how you share the experience,” said John Anderson, senior vice
president and general manager of consumer, PayPal. “The added ability to pay
with Venmo for flights on JetBlue and manage travel costs during the trip
through Groups helps solve the pain points of shared expenses from the time of
booking to returning home.”
JetBlue’s partnership with Venmo is the latest digital
technology upgrade from the airline, which introduced additional features,
including a countdown to boarding on phone lock screens and more accessible
gate information, in September.
Last week, JetBlue announced several
new routes for 2025, including underrated vacation destinations like Traverse
City, Michigan; Wilmington, North Carolina; Norfolk, Virginia; Halifax, Nova
Scotia, Canada; and San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
