On October 1, JetBlue expanded its quickly growing route network in Colombia, adding a third destination to the South American country from South Florida.
The carrier has officially started flights on its new route from Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to Barranquilla, Colombia (BAQ), on the nation’s Caribbean coast.
In addition to its coastal beauty, Barranquilla is also known for its vibrant Carnival celebrations, which are among the biggest in the world.
The new route is also part of a larger initiative at JetBlue to enhance Fort Lauderdale as a focus gateway by adding new flight options.
“Fort Lauderdale continues to grow as an important connecting gateway for JetBlue, connecting customers from Barranquilla not only to South Florida but also to destinations across JetBlue’s broader network across the U.S and beyond,” said Daniel Shurz, JetBlue’s senior vice president, revenue, network and enterprise planning.
JetBlue already flies to Medellín and Cartagena in Colombia. Later in October, the airline plans to launch new service to Cali, Colombia, as well.
“This new service builds on our long history of serving Colombia while giving customers traveling to visit family and friends, for business or leisure the competitive fares and award-winning experience they expect from JetBlue,” Shurz said.
Flights on the new route will operate daily aboard JetBlue’s Airbus A320 aircraft.
To celebrate the new launch, the carrier is offering special introductory fares starting at $134 one-way.
