JetBlue is set to add first class to its domestic
routes starting in 2026.
The rollout of “Mini Mint” or “Junior Mint” will offer a
recliner-style premium cabin bridging the gap between coach, extra legroom
seating and Mint business class offered on select premium routes according to an
article in the New
York Post, with the rollout expected to be installed on Airbus A220s, A320s
and A321s.
The new
premium cabin will be introduced on all planes that do not currently have
Mint business class offerings. The Collins Aerospace MiQ seat, the same one
used in American’s domestic first class has been selected by JetBlue for first
class seating.
New York Post reported that Aviation watchdog JonNYC said
that certification for domestic first seats is underway, the prototype slated
to be installed on the first aircraft in June 2026 followed by installations for
A320s beginning in August 2026, with approximately 20 aircraft completed per
month.
Once the planes have been modified for first class, the seat
count on JetBlue’s fleet will be altered as the airline’s plan is reportedly to
start working on older planes before moving toward newer aircraft.
