Qatar Airways has reaffirmed its status as one of the world's safest airlines, acing its 2017 International Air Transport Association (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA).

The Doha-based carrier announced Monday that it once again achieved 100 percent compliance.

Qatar Airways was the first airline to complete the IOSA audit with 100 percent compliance in 2003 and has since passed with flying colors on seven other occasions.

The IOSA audit assesses an airline's operational management and control systems. These include areas of corporate organization and management; flight operations; operational control; flight dispatch; aircraft engineering and maintenance; cabin operations; aircraft ground handling; cargo operations and operational security.

"At Qatar Airways, safety and security are always our highest priorities. They are expressed in everything we do. We were pleased to be the first airline audited under the IOSA program in 2003, and we remain very proud of maintaining our unblemished safety and security record yet again in 2017," Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker said in a statement.

"This achievement provides continued assurance that Qatar Airways meets world class safety and security standards when measured against IATA's global benchmark."

While the airline was one of several impacted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's cabin ban on large electronic devices, the airline has since been exempted after meeting stricter security guidelines.

Qatar Airways' impressive IOSA achievement comes just one month after it was named Airline of the Year by the 2017 Skytrax World Airline Awards. The victory signals the fourth time the airline has been recognized as the world's best by Skytrax.

The airline also celebrated its 10th anniversary of flying to the U.S. last month.

Qatar Airways currently serves 10 U.S. destinations and will add San Francisco and Las Vegas to the list during 2018. The airline will also add new destinations in Australia, Thailand, Brazil, Chile and the Czech Republic in the years to come.
