Southwest Airlines Announces 'Week of Wow' Fare Discounts

Calling all travelers looking to score a bargain on Southwest Airlines.

The low-cost carrier launched its Week of Wow 2024 on Tuesday, during which customers can save as much as 40 percent off base fares by using the ‘WOW’ promo code. The event runs through 11:59 p.m. PT on Thursday, January 11.

During the coming days, globetrotters can book discounted flights on Southwest for travel taking place between January 30 and May 22, 2024.

"We know low fares and lots of flexibility are top of mind for customers, and our Week of WOW delivers on both to kick off a new year of travel adventures," Jonathan Clarkson, vice president of marketing at Southwest Airlines, said in statement.

Though, it won’t be a complete free-for-all with discounted fares. Restrictions, exclusions, and blackout dates will apply. In addition, seats and days are limited and discounts will be applied before government taxes and fees that must be paid.

Southwest serves 121 airports across its network.

The airline announced additional special perks for 2024 as well this week, including:

• Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Cards from Chase: From January 8 through February 5, card members can earn six points per $1 spent on the first $500 of Southwest purchases. New Cardmembers can earn 50,000 bonus points after they spend $1,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.
• Points Mystery Offer: Between January 8 and February 23, customers can reveal their surprise discount and save 40 percent, 45 percent, or 50 percent when they buy a minimum of 2,000 Rapid Rewards points.
• Rental Cars: Between January 8 and January 15, travelers can save as much as  30 percent off Budget’s base rates and earn up to four times the points on bookings completed by May 15, 2024.
• Hotel: Between January 8 through February 23, consumers can earn four times the Rapid Rewards points on their hotel stay.
• Uplift: Between January 8 through February 23, customers who book a Wanna Get Away Plus ticket using Uplift will receive a $0 down offer.
• Vacation Offers: Finally, between January 8 and February 23 travelers can receive $100 off domestic vacation packages, $200 off international and Hawaii packages, and more than $150 on instant savings.
