Southwest Airlines is making it easier for travelers to comparison shop on Google Flights by making its fares available on the popular flight-booking tool.Until now, the low-cost carrier's fares were blacked out when searching trips on Google Flights, forcing customers to visit Southwest.com to browse fares. As the experts at Going.com point out, the addition marks a major change for Southwest, which has typically driven travelers to its website to shop for flights rather than making it easy to compare against other airlines. It should be noted that Southwest's fares are still not displayed across OTAs and other Metasearch sites such as Skyscanner.
When announcing the carrier's first quarter 2024 results last month, President and CEO Bob Jordon hinted that changes could be coming."We are evaluating options to enhance our customer experience as we study product preferences and expectations, including onboard seating and our cabin," said Jordan. While it remains to be seen if further changes are in store, the latest development is a welcome one for travelers.
