As if the situation in Haiti isn’t bad enough, gunfire has reared its ugly head again, this time on American soil.
A bullet struck a Southwest Airlines plane on Friday night at Love Field in Dallas. There were no injuries reported.
The flight was headed from Dallas to Indianapolis. That particular plane was taken out of service, and Southwest provided a change in equipment to get the passengers to Indianapolis. A spokesperson for the carrier confirmed the occurrence.
Earlier this month, in a gang-riddled Haiti, several airlines stopped flying to the country after bullets were fired at several airplanes at the country's main airport.
Dallas law enforcement was contacted and are investigating the incident. The bullet hit the underside of the plane near the flight deck. Southwest noted that much of the crew was not in danger because they were preparing the flight for departure and were away from the flight deck.
The original plane was a Boeing 737-800. The runway that the flight was using was initially closed until reopening later in the evening.
