WHY IT RATES: Orlando will gain a new direct connection to Europe this fall with TAP Air Portugal. —Janeen Christoff, TravelPulse Managing Editor
TAP Air Portugal announced the launch of a new nonstop service between Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) and Orlando International Airport (MCO) beginning October 29, 2026, further expanding its U.S. network and strengthening transatlantic connectivity (*).
The new route will operate three times per week – Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays–providing Central Florida travelers with a convenient new gateway to Portugal and onward connections across Europe, Africa, and the Mediterranean.
With Lisbon serving as TAP’s global hub, Orlando passengers will gain seamless onestop access to major destinations in Spain, France, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, and beyond. The service also creates a direct link for European visitors traveling to Florida’s leading tourism, cruise, and business markets.
The addition of Orlando underscores TAP’s continued investment in North America. In parallel, the airline is further strengthening its Americas network with the Porto-Boston route transitioning to year-round service, expanding transatlantic options between Portugal and the United States.
As part of its broader network expansion, TAP is also launching two additional routes from Lisbon: new service to Tel Aviv starting March 29, 2026, and to Athens starting July 1, 2026. These additions further strengthen TAP’s role as a key gateway between North America and Europe. Travelers can also take advantage of TAP’s Portugal Stopover program, which allows up to 10 days in Lisbon, Porto and beyond at no additional airfare.
Onboard, passengers can expect TAP’s signature Portuguese hospitality, including modern long-haul Airbus aircraft, lie-flat Business Class seating, complimentary meals inspired by Portuguese cuisine, award-winning wines, and comprehensive inflight entertainment.
