Apparently, he didn’t get the message that there’s no
smoking of any kind on an airplane.
A man forced an American Airlines flight to divert
when he was asked to stop vaping. And he refused.
The incident took place on Tuesday, September 3, on a
flight from Wisconsin to Texas. The airplane was diverted to Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The passenger
in question was a first-class customer.
The man was repeatedly asked to stop by the crew aboard Flight 1733. American refuted an earlier report that a female flight attendant was attacked.
“American Airlines Flight 1733, with service from
Milwaukee, Wisconsin (MKE) to Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), diverted to Tulsa,
Oklahoma (TUL) due to a disruptive customer,” the airline said in a statement.
“We thank our team for their professionalism and apologize to our customers for
the inconvenience.”
The man was removed from the flight, which continued
on to Dallas about an hour late.
Tulsa police were called to investigate but had no
comment.
The cases of unruly passengers have grown so much that
the Federal Aviation Administration has called
on the Federal Bureau of Investigation to help.
