It was an interesting day for customs officials last Monday at a Paris airport after they discovered a live royal python in the baggage of a passenger.
According to AirLive.net, a 22-year-old man from Cotonou, Benin, was stopped on August 21 by customs officials at Paris' Charles de Gaulle Airport and asked what was in a wooden box he had carried with him on board his flight.

The unidentified man told officials at Terminal 2E that he was carrying black soap in the box, but upon checking the item, customs officers discovered a royal python, which is listed as a protected species.

The man told officials that he found the nearly five-foot long snake. As a result of the discovery, customs officials issued the passenger a fine.
As for the royal python, it was sent to veterinary services where it underwent a full examination.
