The Trump administration hasn't shied away from the many challenges facing air travel.
In recent weeks, it has launched new campaigns designed to improve the experience for families and resuscitate the industry's "golden age."
While infrastructure and staffing shortcomings continue to plague the experience, U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Secretary Sean Duffy has also been adamant that airports and airlines need to make healthier food and activities more accessible to travelers.
On Monday, Duffy visited Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in the nation's capital to promote the administration's push towards pre-flight whole foods and exercise.
Duffy was joined by U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and the duo put their money where their mouth is, engaging in a cringeworthy pull-up workout as travelers looked on.
The sweaty showdown comes after Duffy announced a new “Make Travel Family Friendly Again” campaign, which includes $1 billion in funding to prioritize making airport terminals more family-friendly.
Officials are seeking more children’s play areas, additional mothers’ rooms or nursing pods, creating family screening lanes at TSA checkpoints, building sensory rooms for the neurodivergent and more.
