Singapore Airlines took home top honors at the World Airline
Awards, hosted by travel
ranking company Skytrax in London this week.
Last year’s winner Qatar Airlines took second place, with
Cathay Airlines in third, ANA All Nippon ranked fourth and Turkish Airlines came
in at fifth place. Notably, no U.S. airline made the top 20 list.
Mr Goh Choon Phong, Chief Executive Officer, Singapore
Airlines said in a statement, “We are grateful to our customers for their
trust and support, and we are committed to delivering an exceptional,
world-class travel experience every time they fly with us. This award is a
testament to the dedication and professionalism of our people, who continually
strive to uphold SIA’s renowned standards for service and operational
excellence.”
The winning airline’s other accolades included World’s Best
Economy Class and World’s Best Economy Class Onboard Catering.
Qatar Airways, the nine times winner of the World’s Best
Airline title ranked 2nd this year and won four top awards for World’s
Best Class Airline, World’s Best Business Class Lounge, Best Airline in the
Middle East and the inaugural award for the World’s Best Onboard Wi-Fi.
Cathy Pacific Airways took top honors as the World’s Best
Cabin Crew and World’s Best First-Class Airline Lounge.
