Waiting in a TSA security line is one of the last places travelers want to be during the holidays, but airports and airlines are trying to spread as much joy as possible with holiday festivities, according to NBCNews.com.
For passengers flying domestically, Denver International is offering free ice skating at the rink between the main terminal and airport Westin hotel. Travelers can enjoy free skate rentals and hot chocolate through January 6.
At Nashville International, passengers will be treated to live music, carolers, Christmas song karaoke and visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus. In addition, Minneapolis-St. Paul International will be adorning its Snoopy statue with a festive sweater and 3D decorations.
Seattle-Tacoma International is also getting in on the holiday party with a daily holiday parade running between December 16-24 featuring Santa, elves and other characters. The facility will also have live reindeer for passengers who arrive via light rail.
Carriers in the United States are also spreading holiday joy, as Alaska Airlines is offering early boarding to those celebrating National Ugly Sweater Day on December 21 and United Airlines is offering 2,500 bonus miles to passengers booked on the seven international flights departing on Christmas Eve and arriving at their destinations on December 26.
For those traveling internationally during the holiday period, Munich Airport in Germany hosts an annual Christmas and Winter Market between Terminals 1 and 2 through December 26 and Heathrow Airport in England created a giant gingerbread model of the entire airport.
Flying during the holidays isn't all bad.
